Point Reyes National Seashore Spring Break Trip April 1-5, 2018
This year our Spring Break trip will be to Point Reyes National Seashore, just north of San Francisco. This spectacular park spans many miles of wilderness seashore, as well as redwood forests, sand dunes, and rolling grassland. Many magazines, bloggers and websites list hikes in this area as among the best in the country. You can find more information about the park at this link.
We will drive up to Point Reyes Station on Sunday, April 1, 2018, and stay at a campground near the Point Reyes Bear Valley Visitors’ Center.
The next morning, on Monday, April 2, we will backpack 6.3 miles through an amazing coastal redwood forest to Wildcat Campground, located on a bluff directly above the wilderness Wildcat Beach. Later, we will dayhike a mile down the coast to Alamere Falls, one of the only waterfalls in the Western US that falls directly onto a beach.
On Tuesday, April 3, we will backpack along the beautiful coastal bluffs to Coast Camp. Wednesday we will hike out to our cars and then drive to San Francisco, where we will spend one night at a youth hostel. Possible sights to see in the City/activities include Fisherman’s Wharf, the Exploratorium, Musée Mécanique, the USS Pampanito (submarine), and a hike across the Golden Gate Bridge. We will drive back to Irvine on Thursday, April 6.
Cost will be TBD depending on the number going. We will send around a Google signup sheet to gauge interest and help us calculate final cost. We hope you can join us!
